Getting Started

Install avm on macOS, Linux, or Windows in seconds. Prebuilt downloads are checksum-verified before installation.

Select your installation target (macOS Apple Silicon or Intel, Linux x86_64 or arm64, Windows x64):

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/prajanova/avm/main/install.sh | bash

Detects OS and CPU (Apple Silicon / Intel Mac / Linux amd64 & arm64), verifies the sha256 against the release, and installs avm-bin.

Verify installation in your terminal:avm --version

Run these 5 simple commands inside any directory to pin tools and configure aliases:

# 1. Initialize .avm.json in current directory

$ avm init

# 2. Add an official runtime provider (e.g. Node.js)

$ avm plugin add node

# 3. Download and install a runtime version

$ avm node install 22.14.0

# 4. Pin version for this project directory

$ avm node use 22.14.0

# 5. Add a project alias

$ avm alias add dev "pnpm run dev"
